Step 1: mow the lawn
To begin with, tackle the large areas; mowing the lawn. Take, for example, the new Makta DLM460 battery lawn mower. This 2x18V machine has a cutting width of 46cm with a robust steel cutting deck. This makes the lawnmower suitable for most common gardens. The Makita DLM460 is also equipped with a mulching function. What is mulching, you may ask? With this function you have the choice between collecting the grass clippings in the collection bag (60L), or shredding the grass with the much function and spreading it over the lawn. This provides the lawn with a layer of nutrients, which is good for the grass.
Step 2: scarifying
The next step in pampering the lawn is to scarify the turf. This step is not necessary after every mowing, but at least once a year. Scarifying ensures that the thatch layer consisting of moss and dead grass is removed from the lawn. This allows water, air and light to reach the lawn better and it will grow better and not suffocate. For this you can take the Makita UV3600 scarifier. After scarifying is the best time to feed the lawn with fertilizer or other nutrients. Finally, spray the grass to take full advantage of the dethatching and feeding of the lawn.
Step 3: mow the edges
The last step is finishing, i.e. mowing the edges. And for this precision job, Makita has a wide range of edge mowers or grass trimmers in its range. Don't confuse the trimmer with the brushcutter; you use the trimmer for fine work and finishing, the brushcutter for large surfaces. Think of a ditch embankment or large lawn with obstacles. Makita has a grass trimmer or brush cutter for every type of gardener that meets the needs. For a smaller garden you can, for example, consider the Makita DUR181. A light compact grass trimmer with a single 18V power source. The Makita DUR365 is the ideal brush cutter for the large garden. This machine comes with 2 pieces of 18V 5.0Ah battery, so you can really make meters with this trimmer.
